About Jeff Rummel

Jeff Rummel - Avatar 2011

I am a web designer and front-end developer living in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. My life’s work has focused on communication through aesthetics. I published a monthly comic strip in the Washington DC independent monthly Play Magazine, studied fine and commercial arts in school and completed principal photography on a feature-length film I wrote, produced and directed. From 2004 – 2006 I worked as Art Director for the LancasterVOICE, a free bi-monthly community newspaper financed by the LCPJ. In 2006 I co-founded Good Productions, LLC where I designed and developed websites for small and medium sized organizations, and worked with a small team to develop GLS, a web-application for businesses in small communities to share what’s happening at their shops in real-time.

Currently I work with advertising agencies, marketing agencies and directly with small & medium businesses to build flexible, clean, and usable websites for all kinds of computing environments.

A Few Things You May Not Know About Me

  • I love the work of John Lennon, but the Beatles never did anything for me.
  • I spent three years refinishing antique furniture in rural Virginia.
  • The best job I ever had was working in the smallest kitchen in the world, built out of the tail of a B29 Bomber.
  • I’m a huge film buff. I love of Kubrick films. I think most people missed the humor in Eyes Wide Shut, and Barry Lyndon is Kubrick’s most overlooked masterpiece. Everyone should watch at-least seven Yasujiro Ozu’s Films, because the more of them you watch the more you appreciate and understand each one.
  • I’m a black belt in Tae Kwon Do (the secret to throwing a good punch is to roll your fingers and make contact with the first two knuckles).
  • I love publication design, and I’d love to art direct an online publication.
