Block Island Guide is a travel guide that has been informing travelers about the unique experience of vacationing on Block Island RI for more than a dozen years. Originally launching in the late ’90′s, BlockIslandGuide.com became limited by the web architecture it had been built on. Upon completion of the 2008 edition of the print publication, I began working with the Block Island Guide team to revamp the website. BlockIslandGuide.com is now built on a custom business directory management system, we refer to as GLS. GLS is a passion project I have been developing under Good Productions. Block Island Guide is a dynamically driven website, that gives business owners the power to manage their own business listings. As new businesses begin advertising in the Block Island Guide, they are able to upload display ads, modify their business listings, edit hours and create goodies or short text-based descriptions to bring people in the door.
